Meet The Team: Jen

If you've ever enjoyed food from RedKitchen, chances are Jen has had a hand in it. After twelve and a half years with us, she plays a major role here.

"It's my second home. The team are like family."

From Kitchen Manager to a New Adventure

Up until recently, Jen was our Kitchen Manager, juggling all the systems related to Catering and RedKitchen Dinners. She loves the variety, the people, and the purpose.

"I love solving problems, working with the amazing team, and our customers. Knowing I’m part of providing a service that brings people comfort at a time of need - food really is love."

Jen has now made the move to Christchurch, stepping into a new role in Wholesale Development and Customer Support for the South Island. We’ll definitely miss seeing her around as much, but we’re excited to see her embrace this new chapter.

A Dream Dish in the Making

When asked what her dream RedKitchen dish would be, it was hard to pick, as so many of her creations have come to life over the years - but she settled on something with “slow-cooked pulled lamb shoulder, warm spices, lemon, and rosemary…" how good does that sound! Watch this space

Snack Preferences (Very Important Question)

She is very partial to Whittakers dark salted caramel chocolate, or one of our cheese and bacon pinwheels, fresh out of the oven at 6:30am!

A Kitchen Tip

"You’d be surprised what can be fixed with a little salt and lemon juice. Season. Every time. Always."

Favourite Food Memories

Jen’s favourite food memories are all tied to her family. Her most memorable ones are “Grandad's mashed potatoes, but I think it was more because of the dance he danced while mashing away! Curry nights with Dad and my Step Mum, the whole table was always decorated in theme. Steak on the BBQ with Mum and my Step Dad - fresh from the farm with new potatoes and salad from Mums garden.” Proof that the best meals aren’t just about food - they’re about people.

Personality, Described with Foods

Chocolate - Sweet, comforting and reliable. Always makes you feel better.
Raspberries - Littles packages of love, sunshine, and sweetness, but watch out you don't get a sour one!
Gherkins - Everyone needs an emotional support pickle!

A RedKitchen Recommendation

No hesitiation: “Ploughman's Chicken Pie - Comfort in a bowl. (Disclaimer: When home alone, eat it straight from the container. No one will know!) Followed by tiramisu for dessert!”
